With the huge success of his “Th1rt3en” mixtape, JD Era brings to us
a video of his anthem “You Know This”. The single itself has been
getting major attention in the city of Toronto, reaching the number 4
spot on Flow 93.5’s MegaCity Countdown. It has reached that position
for a reason, pairing JD Era’s unmatched flow and wordplay with a beat
that can connect with the streets and the radio alike. Not to mention,
the chorus is spliced with one of the catchiest lines of the year,
lending itself to the title. With a string of successful singles as
well as the opportunity to perform at shows like  Summer
Jam Canada, JD Era is pushing his product hard in an attempt to gain
notoriety.
The video, directed by Matte Black, has an ominous blackness to it
that matches the dark tones of the song’s production. The video
showcases the beginning of “a different Era,” signaling a changing of
the guard in Toronto’s hip hop community. With his popularity quickly
snowballing as time progresses, Era uses the video to show his
swagger. The simplicity of the video—etched with scenes of him rapping
and his crew supporting him—amplifies the intensity and awesomeness of
the song. The song speaks for itself and there is no need for any
over-excessive film sets. That’s what separates Era from the pack, is
